Laser skin resurfacing involves using a light source to ablate the sun damaged outer layers of the epidermis and reveal smooth underlying layers. Erbium in all its manifestations is an exceptional medium for skin resurfacing. Its 2940nm wavelength is absorbed 12-18 times more efficiently by intra- and extra-cellular water than the 10,600nm wavelength of the CO2 laser. Desiccating the skin layer by layer, it enables pinpoint accuracy and precise control of the ablation depth. This results in finer and more delicate results than either harsher chemical peels or the more aggressive carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers.

Light chemical peels and microdermabrasion stop short of the desired results. Medium to deep chemical peels and aggressive laser resurfacing achieve results but require you to put aside responsibilities for one to four weeks.
