Sclerotherapy is a simple procedure in which a trained physician injects a small amount of solution (called a sclerosing agent) into a diseased or varicose vein. The sclerosing agent causes the vein to blanche (turn white), then gradually disappear. Injection sclerotherapy may eliminate the need for an invasive surgical procedure.
Sclerotherapy is used for the removal or reduction of varicose veins and spider veins. Results will vary and may require anywhere from two to ten treatments.
